Meet Troop Guide Kammy Gilmer

Saugahatchee District Scouter Kammy Gilmer will serve as a troop guide for Gilwell Troop 1. She also serves in a variety of capacities — including committee secretary and chartered organization representative — for Troop 356, which is chartered by Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church in the Opelika/Beauregard area. As a troop guide, she will mentor her patrol, facilitate some patrol activities, and assist patrol members as they prepare and complete their Wood Badge tickets.

As an adult leader, Kammy transitioned from her service to Pack 356, where she previously served as a Webelos den leader and assistant cubmaster, to her current volunteer responsibilities in Troop 356.

Kammy attended Chattahoochee Council Wood Badge Course S9-91-12 in 2012 and was a member of the Bear Patrol. This course represents her first opportunity to serve on a Wood Badge course staff.

Professionally, Kammy is a teacher and currently works with students with special needs at Beauregard High School. She is also working to complete a master's in education at Troy University, as well as a veterinarian assistant's certification. She and her husband Chuck have twins — a daughter in Girl Scouting and son who is a Second Class Scout in Troop 356 — as well as an older son who is a Life Scout, also in Troop 356.
