Training for trainers

The Trainer's EDGE course coordinator Debbi Lytle welcomed
participants and offered an overview of the train-the-trainer session.

The teachers became students today at Camp Lumpkin as 18 volunteer leaders from throughout the Chattahoochee Council attended The Trainer's EDGE training course. More than half of the group included staff members of Wood Badge Course S9-91-14, as well as other leaders who are planning to attend the upcoming Wood Badge course as participants.

The purpose of The Trainer's EDGE -- a national Boy Scouts of America training curriculum -- is to provide and help develop a trainer's basic skills. This course is the required train-the-trainer course for anyone serving on staff for Wood Badge, National Youth Leadership Training, and other district and council training programs. The Trainer's EDGE, therefore, is ideal for any Scouter who will be or would like to deliver training to adults and youth leaders in the Scouting program.

So leaders remain current on their training and presenting skills, The Trainer's EDGE must be retaken every three years.

Debbi Lytle, who is serving as an assistant scoutmaster for Wood Badge Course S9-91-14, coordinated The Trainer's EDGE session. She was assisted by Tom Lytle, S9-91-14 course director, and Jennifer Abbey, an assistant quartermaster for the upcoming Wood Badge course.
